How long after the ceremony do you file for the official marriage license?
by: FAQs in: Washington, DC
I make three copies of your marriage license (two for your files, one for my files) and mail the original within 24 hours. You will receive your original copy back from the County Clerk's office (it can take up to several weeks).
After the ceremony, the license is sent in to the County Clerk's office the next day that there is mail service.
the first business day. I work for the courts so You will get your licenses a little sooner as I do not have to mail them but just drop them off at my place of employment.
I file your Marriage license, the very next day they are in mail. and 10 days you should be receiving the Filed copy from Clerk of COurt.
Within the following week. It akes 2 - 4 weeks to process once the county receives them

I mail the license the very next day. In the 8 years I have been in business, there has never been a problem with mailing the license.
We mail the license within 48 hours.
